Join us for an online discussion of the latest intelligence, national security, and terrorism issues in the news. Spy Museum Executive Director Chris Costa will lead the briefing. Costa, a former intelligence officer of 34 years with 25 of those in active duty in hot spots such as Panama, Bosnia, Afghanistan, and Iraq, is also a past Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Counterterrorism on the National Security Council. He will be joined by Zamawang Almemar, a Fellow at the National Defense University.

Almemar has over a decade of experience supporting Special Operations Forces in Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction as a Program Manager at the Department of Defense. She has produced numerous publications on spreading awareness about the chemical and biological threats from non-state actors and has conducted countless seminars and briefs to senior leaders and military commanders in the US and the international community. She has earned three master’s degrees at various universities in the US including a degree in biodefense at George Mason University with emphasis on global terrorism and their use and acquisition of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and high yield explosive threats to national security. At the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, she earned her master’s degrees in chemistry and mechanical engineering and conducted research focused on nanobiotechnology while teaching graduate courses in biology and mechanical engineering. Almemar was born and raised in Iraqi Kurdistan during the Iran-Iraq war, where she fled the atrocities of the Saddam regime, seeking asylum in the United States in 1997.
